About Smoker Craft
Smoker Craft was founded in 1921 in New Paris, Indiana. We’ve been building aluminum boats for over 100 years, which makes us one of the most established aluminum fishing boat builders in North America.
Yes. Smoker Craft is family owned and operated in Indiana. That lets us focus on long term relationships, steady quality and fair value instead of short term shareholder pressure.
Yes. They’re all built by Smoker Craft, Inc., the same family company. Smoker Craft is the aluminum fishing and utility boat brand, Starcraft builds pontoons, deck boats and fishing boats, and Sylvan and Sun Chaser build pontoons.
It means you get durable aluminum construction, smart fishing layouts and a proven hull without paying for a big name markup. Owners find the features, build quality and warranty stack up against boats that cost a lot more.
Choosing a Boat
Three families of aluminum boats. Fishing Boats: Adventurer, Excursion, Ultima, Pro Angler XL, Pro Angler, Explorer, Lazer and Viper. North American Angler Boats, which are all welded: Phantom, Avenger, Pro V Sportsman, Sportsman, Pro Lodge, Pro Tracer and Osprey. Utility Boats: Freedom, Alaskan, Angler, Big Fisherman, Voyager, Canadian and Jon.
Both. The North American Angler boats are all welded for rugged strength in any water. Our Fishing Boats and Utility Boats are riveted. Each method has its advantages, so you can pick the build that fits how and where you fish.
The Phantom is built for it, with a heavy gauge hull, wide beam, deep interior and an optional full weather enclosure, from 18’6″ up to the 22’8″ Phantom 20 X2 Offshore rated to 250 hp. The Adventurer 210 GLS and Pro V Sportsman 2072 are also strong big water picks.
The Ultima is our versatile family fishing boat, with a convertible casting platform, flip up seats, livewells and an optional ski pylon. The Excursion is another favorite, a mid sized boat that mixes comfort with serious fishing features.

The Freedom, Sportsman and Jon are all available in Mossy Oak Bottomlands or Blades camo for waterfowl hunters. The Freedom 180 Waterfowl TL is set up for hunting right from the factory.

Construction and Features
Marine grade aluminum chosen for strength, durability and corrosion resistance. It keeps the boats light for better performance and fuel efficiency.
The Generation 2 Vertex Performance Strake (VPS) hull uses strakes on the V hull to feed clean water to the propeller. You get quicker planing, better handling and a higher, drier ride, even with less horsepower.
The transom board is 1.5″ pressure treated plywood, sandwiched between two aluminum sheets and anchored with stainless steel bolts. It’s covered by our limited lifetime warranty.
Foam flotation is placed throughout the hull. It adds safety and structural support, which cuts down on vibration and noise for a smoother, more solid ride.
C-Zone puts the boat’s electrical functions on simple push buttons, from lights to pumps, and lets you monitor battery and pump levels. You can even control everything from your graph of choice. It comes standard on Adventurer and Excursion boats.
The Integrated Gunnel Track System (IGTS) lets you mount rod holders, downriggers and accessories along the gunnel in seconds with no drilling. It’s designed for factory installed Scotty fishing products.
